Prop Dressing
For Tom Tagholm’s emotional story about plastic waste polluting our seas and wildlife, we created a life-size sea creature seen for the first time ever by humans. We modelled the creature in 3D and rendered many views for approval. Using the final version created, we CNC machined sections in MDF and polystyrene. This was covered in a layer of clay and hand finished. We moulded this and cast prosthetic silicone, then backed it off with GRP. The end result was visually believable and lifelike to the touch.
We shot this on a stunning Cornish beach, and to add to the realism, we were inside puppeteering the breathing, eye movement, lighting, and passing plastic waste for the artistes to remove from the gills and blowholes.
